For a gym, reasonable division of space ensures that customers receive efficient and targeted training while enhancing their overall gym experience. So, what are the key areas that should be included in a well-designed gym?
A gym is a place for fitness, rehabilitation, and exercise activities. Generally, a gym should be divided into the following different areas:
Located at the center of the gym, the stretching area is used for warming up before workouts.
Cardio Room (Aerobic Training)
The cardio room is primarily used for cardiovascular equipment such as stationary bikes, treadmills, and step machines. These machines should ideally be placed with views of the outdoors. The room should be equipped with air conditioning, a music system, an indoor television system, and soft carpeting. Power outlets should also be placed in appropriate locations.
Strength Training Room (Anaerobic Training)
This area is dedicated to various single-function or multi-function strength training equipment, either free weights or machines. It must be spacious, and a modern design often includes mirrors in strategic spots, but not throughout the entire room.
Dumbbell Training Area
A corner of the gym should be reserved for a range of standard and Olympic dumbbells. The latest gym designs in Europe and America feature spectator seating, allowing members and guests to observe the training.
Dance and Relaxation Room
The newly designed health dance room should have a floor made of maple wood, built-in speakers, and spring systems that allow the platform to move with the rhythm of the music. It should also have standard air conditioning, wall mirrors, soft lighting, high-quality audio equipment, an indoor television system, and water dispensers.
Fitness Testing Center
A well-equipped gym must include a fitness testing facility where guests can assess their physical condition and arrange suitable exercise plans and difficulty levels. The gym should have equipment such as a body composition analyzer, heart function tester, body flexibility tester, muscle strength tester, blood pressure measurement device, height and weight measurement equipment, and a small computer system to record guests’ activities and reports.
