Does riding a spinning bike cause significant knee wear?

2024-12-02

Riding a spinning bike generally does not harm the knee, excessive exercise can be detrimental to the knee joint.

The commonly seen exercises that can cause knee injuries in clinical practice are mountain climbing, stair climbing, and repeated squats. However, spinning bikes have relatively less pressure on the knees and cause less knee damage. Riding a spinning bike, as the weight of the body is mainly on the seat rather than the joints, does not cause knee joint damage when performing knee flexion activities during cycling.

Although riding a spinning bike is very healthy, moderate exercise is the best. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone control the time of exercise every day and not exceed the body's load for too long. It is also recommended that everyone gradually warm up before exercise and do stretching exercises after exercise to avoid muscle and ligament strains.
